What is a Legacy Film?

A Legacy Film is generally a longer documentary video (from 10 minutes onwards) that uses stills, video footage, music, and filmed interviews to tell the life story of a person. Legacy Films are much more in-depth portraits of someone’s life and take much longer to make than a Tribute Film. Usually the subject of the film is alive and wants to convey various stories, memories, and wisdom for family and friends.

Legacy Films are priceless gifts for families, seniors, and anyone who wants to have a generational keepsake. They are also particularly meaningful for End of Life patients to share with their loved ones.

Legacy Films are really able to capture the essence of someone as the subject of the film comes to life on screen through their own personal documentary. The tone and style of the documentary will be as unique as the person themself. Like Tribute films, Legacy Films can also be played at funerals or memorials with advanced planning and preparation. Family Reunions and holidays are also common times to premier a Legacy Film.

RUN TIME: 35 - 50 Minutes

1 Hour Video Interview With 1 Person to Be Edited Down to a Final Length of 35 - 50 Minutes

Filmed Locally in Central VA With Professional Camera + Audio Equipment (please reach out for availability + rates if further travel is needed)

The Interviewee Talks Directly to the Camera - Telling the Stories They Want Others to know, Sharing Their Wisdom and Lessons Learned, and/or Leaving Specific Messages For Family and Friends

1 - 2 Music Tracks of Your Choice Can Be Added at the Beginning + End (we also have original instrumental music that can be used as well)

Does NOT Include Any Stills, Videos, or Footage Edited Overtop the Interview - It is Only The Person Talking Directly Into The Camera With The Interviewer Edited Out

THE INTIAL TALK

We talk on the phone and answer any questions you may have, go over exactly what you want and the timeline you need it. We take you through the entire process so you know what to expect and when, and then we finalize the price.

THE ASSETS

You will upload your scanned photos music track(s), and any video footage you'd like to have in the final film.

We highly recommend having the photos professionally scanned if possible as normal consumer printer/scanners tend to pixelate the photos and it doesn’t look as good on video.

If that’s not feasible then the next best option is scanning them in at the highest resolution possible in your home scanner. In a pinch, and sometimes even better than a normal consumer scanner, is taking individual photos of the Slideshow photos with a smart phone (as long as they are in focus and the lighting is even).

Or Blue Ridge Stories can professionally scan them for an additional charge.

THE EDIT

We edit everything together and email you a link to watch the first version of the film based on our initial talk. You give us any notes and we implement those notes and send you a second version to watch (or final version for Option 1).

If there are any additional changes, you give us a final round of notes (for Options 2 +3) and we edit together the finished product.

THE FINAL VIDEO

We send you the link to download the final video file.
